Get your co-workers together to dig in with Louisville Grows! Join our staff for a team building experience that benefits our community’s environmental and physical health. Our team building experiences offer corporations and businesses the opportunity to foster synergy, practice effective communication, and learn a new skill all the while restoring Louisville’s urban tree canopy or increasing food security for our neighborhoods with the greatest need. Your team will cohesively work together to connect with our community and improve our environment.
For groups of 12 or more volunteers, we ask for a minimum donation of $2,000. We will help you customize your day of service to include snacks, meals, t-shirts or specific activities. Your investment is crucial to furthering our mission of growing greener, healthier neighborhoods.

Team building opportunities under our Urban Forestry program are offered at various times in the Spring and Fall on various days depending on our tree planting schedule. The typical workday is from 9am-4pm and led by our experienced field staff and Citizen Foresters. We provide training and all of the tools to properly plant the trees during your group’s day of service. Louisville Grows relies on volunteers to assist us in planting over a 1,000 trees annually. No previous experience is necessary. Based on your team-building day, the typical schedule would be as follows:
- Introduction to Louisville Grows
- Safety protocol
- Training on properly planting a tree
- Form groups for planting zones
- Tree planting and mulching
Team building opportunities within our Urban Agriculture program include work in our greenhouse or with a recipient of our community garden grant. Most of the work for this program occurs in early Spring to late Summer. The days and times vary depending on the tasks. Instructed guidance and materials to complete the projects are provided and led by Louisville Grows’ staff and AmeriCorps VISTA members. Louisville Grows depends on volunteers for assistance in the Urban Agriculture program to help us keep the cost of plants and community garden needs affordable for all. Projects on your team-building day may include:
- Sowing seeds
- Re-potting plant starts
- Greenhouse maintenance
- Building raised garden beds or compost bins
- Creating irrigation solutions
- Planting vegetables, berry bushes or fruit trees
Team building opportunities in the Urban Agriculture program are seasonal and may be limited due to the number of projects.
