Our team building experiences offer corporations and businesses the opportunity to foster synergy, practice effective communication, and learn a new skill all while restoring Louisville’s urban tree canopy or fostering food security for our neighborhoods who need it most. Groups of 12-20 volunteers, we ask for a minimum donation of $2000 or we can help you customize your day of service for a donation that is appropriate for larger teams and specific activities. Your investment is crucial in furthering our mission of growing greener, healthier neighborhoods.

Team Build opportunities under our Urban Forestry program are offered at various times in the spring and fall of the year on Tuesdays-Saturdays depending on our tree planting schedule. The typical workday is from 9am-4pm and led by the experienced Louisville Grows team and Citizen Foresters. We provide training and all of the tools to properly plant the trees during your group’s day of service. Louisville Grows relies on volunteers to assist us in planting 1000 trees annually and no previous experience is necessary. Based on your team-building day, the typical schedule would be as follows:
- Introduction to Louisville Grows
- Safety protocol
- Training on properly planting a tree
- Form groups for planting zones
- Tree planting and mulching
Team building within our Urban Agriculture program provides the opportunity to work in our greenhouse or with a recipient of our community garden grant. Most of the work for this program occurs in late winter into the early summer. The days and times vary depending on the tasks. Instructed guidance and materials to complete the projects are provided and led by Louisville Grows’ staff and AmeriCorps VISTA members. Louisville Grows depends on volunteers for assistance in the Urban Agriculture program to help us keep the cost of plants and community garden needs affordable for all. Projects on your team-building day may include:
- Sowing seed
- Repotting plant starts
- Greenhouse maintenance
- Seed & Starts Sale days
- Safety protocol
- Building raised garden beds or compost bins
- Creating irrigation solutions
- Planting vegetables, berry bushes or fruit trees
Team building opportunities in the Urban Agriculture program are seasonal and may be limited due to the number of projects.
