Louisville Grows depends on trained volunteers to help us restore the urban tree canopy. Citizen Foresters are our “rock star” volunteers!

Citizen Forester Training 101 is the foundation of Louisville Grows’ Urban Forestry Program. Through the training, participants learn how to restore and maintain Louisville’s urban forest. Participants are taught basic tree anatomy and physiology, environmental stewardship, tree planting skills and how to lead other volunteers in proper planting and caring for trees.

Training is provided for individuals of all abilities, ages 12 years and older. The training cost is $25. Scholarships available upon request. A light breakfast and lunch is provided. All trainees receive a Citizen Forester t-shirt.
