Citizen Forester 102: Summer Inspector Training in Russell
Want to learn how to inspect trees to ensure long-term survival of all the trees we’ve planted? Attend our Citizen Forester 102 class! Summer Inspectors commit to checking on 20 trees twice throughout the summer months, collecting valuable data and communicating with homeowners to remind them to water, weed and mulch as needed. Citizen Forester 101 is not required. During the training we will review the responsibilities, provide some basic tree care information from an arborist, and inspect trees planted through the Love Louisville Trees program. Other topics include: caliper measurements of DBH (diameter at breast height), tree health assessments, tree ID, and communication with tree owners.
Citizen Forester 101 training is for individuals of all abilities, from 12 years old and up (minors must have a waiver completed prior to attendance). Training is $25, and includes breakfast, lunch, a short sleeved t-shirt, and a Summer Inspector manual for all workshop participants. Scholarships are available (contact Natalie for scholarship information at trees@louisvillegrows.org). After certification, Citizen Foresters will sign-up to participate in tree inspections events.
