Photo Biennial Reception with Special Guest Speakers
As part of the 2017 Louisville Photo Biennial, Louisville Grows will present a themed exhibit “Wounding the Earth/Wounding Ourselves; Healing the Earth/Healing Ourselves—Portraits of Humanity and Nature.”
Louisville Grows’ 2017 Louisville Photo Biennial opening reception will take place at Louisville Grows’ Healthy House Gallery (1641 Portland Ave, Louisville KY 40203) on September 22 from 5-8pm.
At 7pm, world-renowned poet Ron Whitehead will read his poem “Prayer” before the distinguished Interpretive Naturalist Wren Smith presents a lecture exploring how places inspire creativity: “The Hidden Muse”. Wren Smith is the Interpretive Programs Manager for Bernheim Arboretum and is a recognized leader in the field of nature interpretation. For as long as Wren can remember, she has been enchanted by the natural world. If it crawled, sprawled, flew or grew it captured Wren’s eye and her imaginings. Having over 30 years of professional experience, Wren is the recipient of both regional and national awards from the National Association for Interpretation (NAI). Wren’s passion and expertise in connecting people to nature and in training others is evident in numerous articles published in Legacy magazine, a professional publication sponsored by NAI.
Please join us for drinks, snacks and a fabulous evening of art and conversation about creativity and the natural world.
