Goal Setting & Landscape Design Our initial session for this series will be an introduction to the Urban Homesteading Program along with a resource evaluation. Participants will learn how to evaluate your property’s resources, create site maps and set initial goals for your space.

Eat Local, Grow Local Series: Urban Homesteading

The goal of this workshop series is to provide an introduction to the art of self-sufficiency via home-grown food production for people living in an urban environment.

We will hold classes twice a month, February (one class only) thru October with a celebration potluck at the end of October. The first meeting each month will be informational in nature in a lecture-type setting. The second meeting will consist of mini-workshops to provide participants with one-on-one and/or small group consulting on their particular projects. Participants will rotate through several mini-workshops and participate in guided discussions/ Q&A about topics related to that month’s theme.

Instructors for this workshop series include representatives from Jefferson County Extension Services, the Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District and other local experts. It is being hosted at Louisville Grows’ Healthy House office in the historic Portland neighborhood of Louisville, KY. The cost for a single workshop is $15. The entire series is offered at a discounted rate of $100. Financial assistance is available to those in need. Class sizes are limited to 25 participants.
