Louisville Grows is excited to offer the Urban Growers Series #1, Fall and Winter Growing in the Ohio Valley. This series is designed for the home, community, and market gardener and will cover a wide range of seasonal topics. Courses are held on the first Saturday of every month with rain dates scheduled for the 2nd Saturday.
The first course on October 3rd will offer an overview of permaculture, soil preparation and testing, tillage (walk-behind tractor with plow or tiller, double digging, no-till), garlic planting, and cover crop seeding. Each participant will take home a variety of garlic and cover crop seed and a urban growers handbook. A hot lunch will be provided featuring food grown by the Urban Growers Cooperative.
We recommend that you dress in layers. Waterproof outerwear is ideal. Of course, you might be digging in dirt and handling mulch or compost, so please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We’ll provide adult-sized gloves, and we recommend wearing sturdy shoes.
